Attempted Murder Charge for Honduran Immigrant
An undocumented immigrant from Honduras, identified as 20-year-old Javier Lopez Tinoco, has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a victim multiple times at a public soccer match in Alabama. The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office detained him following the incident on July 19th, which occurred in Summerdale.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued an immigration hold on Tinoco. After the attack, he reportedly fled the scene, and the condition of the victim remains unknown.
Authorities located Tinoco on July 29th. Upon his arrest, he was found in possession of a small amount of cocaine. Following this, ICE took steps to ensure he remained in custody, initiating removal procedures.
This isn’t Tinoco’s first legal run-in; he was previously arrested in 2024 for public intoxication, according to DHS reports. Some officials have expressed concern over how such individuals pose risks to public safety.
One spokesperson remarked on the gravity of the situation, emphasizing that incidents like this highlight the potential dangers associated with illegal immigration. They noted that “these are the types of criminal illegal aliens who need to be removed from our communities.”
In another note, assistance is available for victims of crimes committed by undocumented immigrants through the Immigration Crime Engagement (Voice) Office, which can be contacted at a dedicated phone number.
