Unions sue over Trump’s DOGE order that plans 'large-scale' government layoffs

A coalition of unions representing federal employees appealed Wednesday for President Trump's executive order, which lays the foundation for a massive government-wide layoff.

Trump signed the orders with Elon Musk on Tuesday at his oval office. Elon Musk is seeking to dismantle the large-scale aspects of federal bureaucracy at a rapid pace by the government's Office of Efficiency (DOGE).

“The union will bring this measure to protect the workers they represent from the efforts of government agencies to dismantle the federal government through massive firing of hundreds of thousands of employees.” I read the lawsuit.

Trump's New orders Instruct agents to prepare for “major reductions” and direct DOGE staff to develop a new employment plan.

The lawsuit alleges that the move violates the separation of power by undermining the power of Congress's wallets and violates regulations that determine how governments can implement cuts to the mass labor force. Masu.

The case, filed in federal court in Washington, D.C., also challenges the administration's “road fork” acquisition offer to federal employees.

Minutes after it was filed, a Massachusetts judge oversees the union's attempt to acquire from another coalition. They allowed the program to proceed and found that those plaintiffs had no legal status.

The new lawsuit provides additional means that could potentially block plans.

“In the course of weeks, enforcement actions targeted the federal private workforce in a way that sought to obstruct the statutory duties of federal agencies. These actions collectively created the body of Congress and created the body of Congress. , strips them of their authority to empower them to do the work they ask of them to do.”

The lawsuit was filed by the National Federation of Treasury Employees, the National Federation of Federal Unions, the International Association of Mechanical and Aerospace Workers, the International Federation of Professional Engineers of Professional Engineers and United Auto Workers.

Some of these unions have raised other legal challenges in the drastic bids of Trump and Musk to reduce the size of the federal government.

The National Treasury Officers Union also filed a lawsuit challenging Trump's executive order, allowing him to quickly fire a wider federal employee and Doge's efforts at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau .

The National Federation of Federal Federations and the International Association of Mechanics and Aerospace Workers are coming together for another challenge to Doge's efforts under the federal privacy laws.
