Natasha Cloud Reacts to US Military Strike on Iran
New York Liberty guard Natasha Cloud has seemingly responded to the US military’s recent strike on significant nuclear facilities in Iran, which took place on Saturday night.
The WNBA champion and Washington Mystics player took to social media shortly after the announcement to express her thoughts. She issued multiple posts reflecting her views.
In one of her tweets, Cloud stated, “On a sad, sad day,” emphasizing her disappointment. She also mentioned, “The basis for each bullet,” though the context isn’t entirely clear.
Cloud retweeted another post that raised questions about the separation of powers in government, stating, “The three divisions of government no longer work under a system of checks and balance… Democracy or dictatorship?”
On Instagram, she echoed criticism against President Trump’s military actions by sharing comments from Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Ocasio-Cortez remarked on the president’s decision to strike Iran without congressional approval, indicating it was a serious constitutional issue. Cloud seemingly agreed, suggesting that these actions are aligned with the basis for weapons used in conflict.
Cloud has been vocal about her opinions regarding Trump, especially in relation to his cuts to diversity and inclusion initiatives earlier in the year. She commented, “The system of power is working because they were always meant to work, and it’s time to break down the system that’s exclusively white.” She added that there seems to be a neglect of the human side in governance, stating, “This country too often prioritizes money over people.”
A few days later, she reiterated her stance, boldly asserting, “I’m not soft, and the words don’t hurt me.” Cloud’s reflections suggest a feeling of frustration and perhaps disbelief with the current political climate.
In the backdrop of these remarks, Trump confirmed that US B-2 bombers had targeted Iran’s nuclear facilities in locations like Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
Following the military action, Trump declared, “Iran’s nuclear enrichment facility has been completely wiped out,” and warned of more substantial future attacks if Iran does not seek peace.
