Ryan Crowther remains the best shot putter in the world.
The American won his third consecutive Olympic shot put gold medal, winning by 0.75 metres with a personal best of 22.90 metres.
He is the first shot putter to win three consecutive gold medals.

Fellow American Joe Kovacs won the silver medal for the second consecutive year.
Crowther began her dominance in 2016 when she won gold in Rio with a then Olympic record throw of 22.52 metres.
He achieved this mark again five years later in Tokyo, then went even further, setting a new Olympic record with a throw of 23.30 metres.
Crowther currently holds the world record with a throw of 23.56 metres, which he achieved at the USATF Los Angeles Grand Prix in Los Angeles on May 27, 2023.

The 31-year-old Portland, Oregon native is another young phenom who, at age 16, won gold at the 2009 World Youth Championships with a throw of 21.56 meters.
