Second Lady Ushavance is planning a trip to Greenland when President Donald Trump suggests that the United States should control the autonomous, mineral-rich territory of American ally Denmark.
According to her office, Vance will leave Thursday and return on Saturday. Vance and one of her three children will be part of a US delegation that will “visit the historic location” and “learning about Greenland's heritage.”
Greenland and Danish media outlets have reported that Vance will be accompanied by Trump's national security adviser Mike Waltz. The White House and the National Security Council did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Waltz is expected to tour US military bases.
Separately, national security adviser Michael Waltz is expected to tour the US military base, two U.S. officials said. Energy secretary Chris Wright is expected to join him, according to others with knowledge of the visit, as the Trump administration focuses on Arctic security and the Western hemisphere.
These visits come as the Trump administration continues their push to win Greenland.
