Utah cat accidentally shipped in an Amazon return box, found 650 miles from home by warehouse worker

A cat lover is thanking an Amazon warehouse worker for helping him reunite with his furry friend.

Carrie Clark, a mother of two in the Salt Lake City, Utah area, recently lost her beloved cat named Galina.

Clark shared with others on social media that her cat disappeared from her home on Wednesday, April 10th.

“We searched every nook and cranny of the house and neighborhood. …For a week, our neighbors surrounded us,” she posted on Facebook.

A week after Galina went missing, Clark said she felt defeated by the lack of luck.

But seven days later, on April 17, Clark was stunned when she received a call from a California veterinarian informing her that she had adopted a lost animal.

Clark told Fox News Digital that she thought “we’ll never see each other again.”

“I was shocked and couldn’t believe the person on the phone,” she said.

To confirm that Galina is actually her cat, Clark had to verify her phone number, address, and the veterinarian she used to care for her pet, all of which was extracted from the cat’s microchip. It was something that was done.

Clark said that’s when she learned how Galena came to California in the first place.

Galina jumped into an Amazon return package and it was mistakenly delivered to a returns center’s warehouse in California.

Brandi Hunter, an Amazon night shift worker, received a call from another warehouse worker who said an animal had been found in a package.

“When I opened the box, I literally never expected to see a live cat,” she says.

Hunter told Fox News Digital that he immediately took the animal to a veterinarian, where they found Galina’s microchip.

“A microchip must be as gentle as brandy. [Hunter]we would never have found her again,” Clark wrote on Facebook.

Clark and her husband, Matt Clark, hopped on a plane to California to bring Galena home.

“Galina loves to hide, hunt and play in boxes, and this was a very big box.”

“Galina has been ‘my kitty’ for six years. She and I have such a deep bond and it was incredible to have her there when I needed her,” Clark said on FOX. He told News Digital.

Clark said her feline friend survived thanks to a seam on the side of the box that ripped open, and that a visit to the veterinarian’s blood tests came back completely normal.

“I can’t thank Brandi enough.” [Hunter] “Rescuing our baby and the kindness and love she shares with everyone is enough,” she continued.

As for how Galena ended up participating in Amazon’s return package in the first place, Clark told Fox News Digital that her husband ordered six pairs of steel-toed work boots that she said were “try before you buy.” Told.

After keeping one pair and returning the other five, he walked away and grabbed some tape and scissors to close the 3-foot-by-3-foot-by-3-foot box. At that moment, Galina must have jumped into the box.

“Maybe she opened the flap and it fell behind her,” Clark speculated.

“Galina loves hiding, hunting and playing in boxes. And this was a very big box!” she continued.

The box was already large and heavy, Clark said, adding that the 10-pound cat didn’t raise any red flags.

“Galina is part of our family, and I’m so grateful to be able to spend more time with her,” she said.
