Vacation destinations are often chosen from popular books on the shelf, study says: See if you’ve read these

New research shows that people often find inspiration for their next vacation destination by reading books.

Jet2holidays asked 2,000 adults how they choose their vacation destinations. Many said they were influenced by a book they read recently. The study found that one in four people booked a vacation based on a novel that took place in that location or mentioned a specific destination.

Additionally, 15% of people who booked a trip to a destination mentioned in a novel did so within one day of finishing the novel, SWNS reported.

46% of participants said they wanted to see what the place was really like, and 32% said they wanted to learn more about the area.

Of those who took a vacation to a place inspired by a book, 62% said the destination was better than they expected.

SWNS reported that 50% of people visited popular tourist attractions mentioned in the book, and 25% stayed at hotels and lodges featured in the novel.

Jet2holidays has announced the top destinations visited by participants who were inspired to travel by reading the book.

Some of the most popular destinations included Corfu, Greece, Rome, Italy, Paris, France, and Provence in southeastern France.

Jet2holidays is a tour guide company based in the UK. The survey was conducted ahead of World Book Day, a UK charity event held on the first Thursday of March.

A spokesperson for Jet2holidays told SWNS that while many people get ideas for vacation destinations from movies and TV shows, they were surprised by the number of books that inspired them as well.

“There are so many beautiful places to visit in the world that it’s hard to narrow it down, so I hope this motivates the public to start thinking about their next travel destination. And maybe there’s a book to be thankful for.” ” they said.
