Vice President J.D. Vance said prices will start to fall, but in an interview on CBS News' “Matching Margaret Brennan,” it may not happen right away.
“Prices will come down, but it will take some time,” Vance told Brennan in an interview that aired Sunday. “The president has been president all five days. I think he's accomplished more in those five days than Joe Biden did in four years.”
“It's been an incredible pace of activity. We will work with Congress. Of course we will issue more executive orders,” he said.
Brennan pointed out that President Trump and Vance campaigned on lowering food prices for Americans. Asked which executive orders Trump signed when taking office address prices, Vance said some “are causing jobs to come back to our country.”
“More capital investment, more job creation in our economy is one of the things that will not only lower prices for all consumers, but also raise wages so that people can afford what they need. ” he continued.
According to Vance, addressing energy prices can also help reduce everyday costs.
“Donald Trump has already taken multiple enforcement actions to lower energy prices. We believe that means consumers will see lower prices at the pump and at the grocery store, but it will take some time. ” he said. “Rome wasn't built in a day.”
Trump signed 26 executive orders when he took office last week, addressing issues related to immigration to gender and day policies. He also reversed 78 Biden executive actions, many of which address initiatives to tackle climate change.
