Authorities have confirmed that the suspect in the slaying of a veteran American Airlines flight attendant who was among the victims killed in a random stabbing during a layover in Denver is in custody.

Elijah Caudill, 24, was arrested late Sunday night in connection with four stabbings over the weekend, Denver police said.

American Airlines confirmed in a statement to Fox News Digital that Phoenix-based flight attendant Serinda Levno, 71, was one of the victims.

“We are heartbroken and saddened to learn of the tragic death of a colleague who was the victim of a senseless crime. Our thoughts and support go out to her family, loved ones and colleagues. We stand by our side and are doing everything we can to assist law enforcement with their investigation,” an airline spokesperson said in a statement.

The Professional Flight Attendants Association, the union representing American Airlines flight attendants, also confirmed Levno's death in a statement sent to Fox News Digital.

“It is with great sadness that we announce that Phoenix-based flight attendant Selinda Levno passed away during a layover in Denver,” a spokesperson for the association said in a statement. I started my career there,” he said.

“Serinda's love for horses, friends and family will always be remembered. We support Selinda's family, friends and colleagues at Phoenix Inflight as they deal with this senseless tragedy. .”

Levno began his career with American West in 1989, which merged with US Airways and then with American Airlines in 2013, the association said.

The association added that while the stabbing did not occur at the transit hotel, the flight attendants still in transit in Denver will be moved to hotels near Denver International Airport.

According to police, the incident occurred Saturday around 5:17 p.m. when officers responded to a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found Levno with a stab wound to the neck and two other injured victims.

Levno was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Police said another male victim was stabbed late Sunday night and died from his wounds. His identity has not yet been revealed.

Investigators do not believe there was any connection between Caudill and the victims, and the motive for the attack is unknown.

Caudill is being held without bail and is charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder.

Anyone with information or surveillance footage of the stabbing is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7967.

A GoFundMe page has also been set up by Levno's family and friends to help with funeral costs.

“Serinda Ann Levno was a wonderful woman. She was 71 years old and still working hard as a flight attendant,” the page said.

“She spent her free time with her loving husband, John, and her sister, Melanie. She bred many horses throughout her life and was deeply involved in the Arabian horse industry,” the post continued.

“She was also a great musician and often played the flute at concerts. Selinda was the most dedicated and kind person you could find. She did so much for others. She was a wonderful, kind woman who was taken away too soon.”
