Victor Davis Hanson Critiques Mask Opposition for ICE Agents
Victor Davis Hanson spoke on Fox News this Tuesday, expressing his disapproval of the Democrats’ resistance to masks for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
During a May 30 press conference, Border Emperor Tom Homan highlighted that attacks on ICE agents were increasing, with “doxxing” reaching unprecedented levels. In his appearance on “Jesse Watters Primetime,” Hanson defended the agency, emphasizing the extensive influence of Mexican gangs both within and outside the U.S., noting that these gangs have operatives who could endanger the families of the agents.
“I live in a pretty dangerous area. We’ve arrested gang members right in my neighborhood,” Hanson said. “People familiar with Mexican gangs can recognize that they have access to details when they’re out—whether in the community or in prison—and they all have to wear masks.”
Hanson also took issue with the university environment, where pro-Palestinian and pro-Hamas students are allowed to wear masks without facing challenges.
“There’s some odd logic in these universities allowing pro-Palestinian or pro-Hamas students to wear masks while opposing those who are trying to protect their families and uphold the law,” he remarked.
President Donald Trump has enacted several executive orders to address illegal immigration and enhance border security. On January 20, he classified various Mexican drug cartels and gangs, including Tren de Lagua from Venezuela and MS-13 from El Salvador, as foreign terrorist organizations. A declaration was made under the Alien Enemies Act on March 15 promoting the deportation of gang members.
Opposition to ICE operations has emerged from figures like a Milwaukee judge accused of aiding illegal immigrants, as well as Nashville’s Democratic Mayor Freddie O’Connell, who has been involved in disclosing the identities of ICE agents engaged in immigration enforcement within the city.
