Video captures woman’s bizarre rampage, including assault of firefighter and crashing car into police vehicles in Los Angeles

A woman assaulted a police officer in Los Angeles Captured on cellphone video from a bystander.

Authorities responded to a report of a traffic accident on Manhattan Beach Boulevard in Gardena around noon. Authorities say a woman and a man were arguing and public safety officers intervened.

She used to swear a lot.

of Footage obtained by KTLA-TV The video begins with a woman in a black surgical gown yelling at a Los Angeles County firefighter in an SUV, then slapping him multiple times.

Neighborhood resident Frank Rojas told KTLA what he witnessed and recorded on his cell phone.

“I heard chaos begin,” he said, “and the officer, I think it was the firefighter, was trying to defuse the tension and calm her down.”

The woman was later identified as 36-year-old Jessica Chavez of Inglewood.

She appears to return to her vehicle before Gardena Police Department officers arrive to assist the firefighters. Video shows Chavez accelerating his car and stealing both the firefighters’ vehicle and the undercover officer’s vehicle.

KTLA reported that the force of the crash caused a rear wheel to be ripped off of one vehicle.

When asked what the woman was yelling, Rojas said she was yelling expletives and demanding that firefighters stop pursuing her.

No one was injured in the incident, and Chavez was arrested on suspicion of assault on a firefighter, assault with a deadly weapon and driving while intoxicated.
