A surprising video has emerged of a homeowner left speechless as a hot air balloon full of passengers made an emergency landing in his beautiful California backyard.
In a clip shared online, homeowner Hunter Perrin demonstrated how a massive hot air balloon carrying 13 people touched down in his Temecula yard unexpectedly on Saturday.
Perrin was completely unaware of the balloon’s arrival until a neighbor knocked on his door.
He mentioned that he was watching TV around 8:30 a.m. when a neighbor informed him about the unexpected landing. “I opened the door and this guy says, ‘They just landed in your backyard!!!’” Perrin recalled, visibly shocked.
His wife, Jenna, joined him as they rushed outside to see what was going on.
The unusual video captured several composed passengers smiling and waving at Perrin and his neighbors, while the balloon loomed over the trees in their garden.
“Hello everyone, look! Hahaha!” someone shouted to the amused group below.
The balloon’s pilot explained to Perrin that the landing was necessary due to a drop in wind. “I opened the sliding glass door, and there was a basket in the backyard with 13 people in it!” he remembered.
Perrin praised the pilot, stating, “He flew it right in, almost like he was aiming for an empty backyard. The balloon didn’t get caught on anything. Thankfully, no one was hurt.”
Passenger Briana Avalos, who was on the balloon celebrating her 10th wedding anniversary, recounted her surprise when the pilot suddenly announced their descent. “At first, I thought, ‘Oh my god! This is my backyard! This is crazy!’” she shared.
Avalos noted that the pilot mentioned there wasn’t enough wind, which was why they needed to land, and that they were running low on fuel.
Eventually, the passengers exited the basket, and the balloon was secured and lifted from the backyard to the street, as shown in the footage. Fortunately, there were no injuries or damage to property during the incident.
