Don't look now, but Sam Darnold is in the NFL MVP race.
The Vikings quarterback is off to an incredible start to the 2024 season, earning him the third-best odds (+800) at DraftKings Sportsbook to win the award.
Darnold gave it his all through four games, throwing for 932 yards, a completion percentage of 68.9 percent, a league-leading 11 touchdowns, and a passer rating of 118.9.
He led the Vikings to a 4-0 start and joined the Chiefs as the only undefeated teams entering Week 5.
The Vikings' perfect first four weeks include upsets against the 49ers, Texans and Packers, all of whom were projected to make the Super Bowl before the season.
Darnold is followed only by preseason favorite Patrick Mahomes (+300) and DraftKings' Josh Allen (+350).
He joins CJ Stroud and Lamar Jackson, who won the award last season.
The former Jets quarterback enters the season as a huge 200/1 hit at BetMGM Sportsbook and the player to be named the 2024 MVP.
Those odds were lower than players like Bryce Young, Daniel Jones, and Will Levis, among others.
Darnold is back as a starting quarterback in the NFL after spending the 2023 season as a backup to Brock Purdy with the San Francisco 49ers.

After being selected No. 3 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft, Darnold served as Gang Green's starting signalman for three seasons before spending two years with the Panthers in Carolina.
Darnold will get a chance for revenge against his former team in Week 5 overseas.
The Vikings and Jets will face off on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. ET in London. The Vikings suffered an upset loss to the Jets in Week 4 due to a poor offensive performance by 2.5 points.
