Virginia Gubernatorial Candidate Winsome Earl Sears Makes Final Appeal to Voters

Winsome Earl Sears, the Republican candidate for governor of Virginia, delivered a closing message to voters before Election Day, which is set for Monday. Sears, alongside her fellow candidates, shared her thoughts while engaging with reporters at a local diner.

A reporter asked Sears to summarize her pitch for undecided voters, particularly those considering a choice between her and her Democratic opponent, Abigail Spanberger. Sears responded pointedly, saying, “If you like what we’ve done in Virginia, you should know that Ms. Abigail Spanberger hasn’t been part of that. She hasn’t helped in creating jobs or making Virginia a safe place.” Sears criticized Spanberger as being “soft on crime.”

Shifting the conversation, she passed the microphone to Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares, who is running for re-election. Miyares highlighted the significant economic growth achieved under Governor Glenn Youngkin and himself, stating, “We’ve seen an extraordinary turnaround in Virginia, with $140 billion in new investments and 1.5 job openings for every job seeker.”

Miyares, reflecting on his tenure as Attorney General, mentioned the reduction in the homicide rate, emphasizing that he has increased police presence to tackle repeat violent offenders.

Meanwhile, Spanberger defended her recent campaign advertisement criticizing Sears, just after holding a rally in Falls Church, Virginia, alongside Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner.

In these final days before the election, there were attempts from Democrats to keep Sears focused on state responsibilities rather than campaigning. Terence Sears, Winsome’s husband, expressed his frustration at a rally last week, accusing Democrats of hindering her campaign efforts. “I’m angry at what they’re doing to my wife,” he shared. “It’s frustrating to see how they’re trying to keep her away from the campaign trail.” He urged voters to make their voices heard at the polls.
