Authorities arrested a suspect Monday after attempting to carjack a victim with a stolen chainsaw and hammer after a manhunt in Virginia, the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office said.
After a three-hour search using K-9 units and a drone, authorities were able to arrest Devin Laws, 26, of Blackwater. Officials added that brass knuckles were also found in Lowes’ pocket at the time of his capture.
The ordeal began just before 7 a.m., and deputies responded to the disturbance by firing their weapons.
Deputies said the caller reported that he was parked in his driveway when an unknown man approached him with a chainsaw in one hand and a hammer in the other.

Laws then allegedly grabbed the door handle and swung the hammer toward the car window. The driver sped away from him, troopers said.
Officers arrived and began searching Lowe’s when another resident on the street called in to report another crime.
According to deputies, a resident reported waking up to a noise in his home at 6:30 a.m., and when he went to investigate the noise, he encountered the same carjacking suspect at his home. Upon meeting the homeowner, the resident told authorities the suspect had fled the home.
Other residents reported the suspect ringing multiple doorbells in the area, and another resident claimed Laws entered his home with a handgun.
