Dunedin, Fla. – Vladimir Guerrero Jr. loves Canada, especially the Jays, but for his upcoming free agency – he is the clear No. 1 person for the next winter – he will have any of the 30 teams I suggest considering it. That includes even the Yankees, but he has not completely forgotten why they once upset him.
Guerrero is the main performer who improved his shape and game, and is perfect for large market teams that are positive everywhere. However, he is also a family man, so we're not sure what the Yankees' chances will be. (Guerrero confirmed with the Post, though not all of his issues relating to the Yankees' treatment of his father.)
Yes, it was changing their original plans to sign his Hall of Fame father (in late 2003, when Guerrero Jr. was three years old, the top Yankees were George Steinbrenner and former Yankee Dwight Gooden was told to “go down the road” in Guerrero's deal (and met up to sign Gooden's nephew, Gary Sheffield instead). But it was more than that. It was his father, a brilliantly wild superstar on the field, but also a high-level companion who at least publicly advised him to be open-minded.
“When I go to a free agency, all teams (all 30 teams) have the opportunity to sit together [me]To speak to me,” Guerrero said through an interpreter. “I'm fine with everything. It's the past.”
