Recent Developments in Voter Fraud Discussions
There’s a sense that, thanks to Bill Essary, the U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California, some real outcomes might finally emerge from this ongoing debate. This could be just the beginning.
For quite some time, we’ve been led to believe that voter fraud is largely a myth, a mere figment of the Republican imagination. Some suggest that the penalties for illegal voting are deterrents enough. Then again, it might just be that authorities successfully catch most incidents when they happen. Or perhaps, it’s true that voter fraud is so infrequent it barely registers as an issue.
Interestingly, voter ID laws actually get a fair amount of support from Californians—until, that is, they learn it’s a Republican-backed initiative. Suddenly, it seems party loyalty takes precedence over the issue itself.
But let’s set aside party affiliations for a moment. This year presents an opportunity to submit your voter ID, and it would be wise not to overlook it.
