Gov. Tim Walz (D) made an appearance at the Minnesota State Fair on Sunday, his first as a vice presidential candidate.

Waltz posted photos and videos to X from his visit to the Minnesota State Fair, including photos of him posing with workers and handing out ice cream cones, more than a week after he was named the Democratic nominee to be Harris' running mate last month.
He posted a video of himself holding a pork chop on a skewer on X.
“All right, the breakfast of champions in Minnesota is pork chops on a skewer. I've been to a lot of state fairs. Iowa has great fairs, but they can't hold a candle to Minnesota. The pork chops here are the best,” he said. On video.
Associated Press Waltz attended the fair with his wife, Gwen, and daughter, Hope, the news outlet reported. The outlet detailed how Waltz inspected the many food vendors, many of which sold food on skewers.
The Associated Press reported that Waltz acknowledged that his presence may have brought more chaos than usual to the state fair, but that he saw the attention as an opportunity to promote the state's culture.
“I think people understand that we're able to talk about Minnesota, we're able to talk about our economy, we're able to talk about things like our state fair, we're able to talk about agriculture across the country,” Walz said, according to the Associated Press.
Minnesota's CBS News station WCCO Reported Waltz's visit on Sunday lasted just over 30 minutes while the Secret Service and local police searched the area. Waltz treated his visitors to milkshakes and ice cream in the Dairyville building, according to the outlet.
