Walz vs. Vance: New poll reveals which vice presidential nominee is favored among voters

Gov. Tim Walz is currently more favorably rated among voters than Sen. J.D. Vance, according to a new survey of 2024 vice presidential candidates.

A new Washington Post/ABC News/Ipsos poll found that 39% of Americans approve of Walz and 32% of Vance, while 30% have an unfavorable view of Walz.

However, Americans may still be forming their opinions of Harris as a running mate, as 31% of respondents did not answer this question.

Additionally, 44% of Americans oppose Walz being Harris’ running mate.

When asked about their opinion of Senator Vance, 32% of respondents had a favorable view of the Ohio senator, while 42% had an unfavorable view of Trump’s vice presidential nominee.

About 26% of respondents did not answer the question, 5 percentage points lower than those who gave an opinion about Walz.

Among rural voters, Vance leads Walz by 13 percentage points.

The Ohio senator also holds a large lead among white evangelical Protestants, with a net gain of 37 points.

According to the survey, Walz has a 16-point lead among people under 40 and is viewed favorably by both men and women.

The poll was conducted from Aug. 9 to 13 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percentage points.

The two candidates are expected to go head-to-head in the first vice presidential debate on October 1st on CBS News.
