A loyal Washington rescue dog named Geeta led authorities to the scene and saved the life of her elderly owner hours after she suffered serious injuries in a fall in the woods.
The heroic pup became active on Sept. 25, when deputies found her sitting on a driveway in a remote, wooded area in Stevens County, and tried to get Zita into her car to no avail. It was. Stevens County Sheriff's Office Said.
The deputy police officer searched the area for the dog's owner, but when he felt something strange, he returned and found Geeta in the middle of the road.
Deputies tried to remove Geeta from the road, but she ran down a deserted, unmarked roadway and lay on the ground a short distance from a nearby cabin, pleading for help, the sheriff's office said. The animal was brought to its elderly owner.
Officials said the 84-year-old man had injured his leg in a fall and would face serious consequences if not found, adding that the man had been injured three hours earlier and had other injuries requiring treatment. He added that he also had a medical condition.

The sheriff's office shared the story on its Facebook page, praising the deputy who recognized the pup's call for help and the 13-year-old dog, calling him a “good kid” and a “true hero.”
“The dog, Gita, was a 13-year-old rescue dog who turned out to be the best friend of a gentleman in need,” the sheriff's office said in a statement.
“We believe Geeta saved our lives that day. The loyalty and heroism of our furry friends continues to amaze us. ”
