Watch: Trump signs orders targeting school vaccine mandates, establishing energy council

President Trump on Friday signed two executive orders attempting to strip funds from schools with Covid-19 vaccine obligations, and set up a new council focused on “control of energy.”

Trump has been increasingly leaning into the anti-vaccine movement in recent years, including naming one of his most prominent supporters, heading the Department of Health and Human Services. Environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was pledged to lead the agency on Thursday.

Efforts to ban school obligations also come as the President's Government Efficiency (DOGE) Committee is working on overhauling federal spending and is set to demolish the education sector.

Verified to lead the interior later last month, Burgham was tapped by Trump to serve as a broad energy coordinator across the federal government. Former North Dakota governor and former fracking executive Wright will work together to run the new Energy Council.

Trump said he would include “all sectors and agencies involved in permitting, producing, generating, distribution, regulation and transportation of all forms of American energy,” following his election victory.
