The left has repeatedly shown a readiness to use violence to stifle opposition and maintain power. A recent poll among Democratic voters suggests that this trend is still very much alive.
This survey, conducted by the Center for Strategic Politics alongside Liberal Currents, revealed that 56% of respondents would feel good about the news of President Donald Trump’s death. In contrast, only 16% expressed feelings of sadness or regret regarding such an event.
Interestingly, when asked about the possibility of waking up to news that Trump was assassinated during a rally, 31% of those surveyed said it would make them feel positive. Roughly 25% felt indifferent, while 43% had negative feelings about the news.
Among the 683 Democratic voters surveyed, 59% identified as “woke.” Their responses included:
- 86% would feel positive if Trump was impeached, convicted, and removed from office;
- 84% would feel similarly if he were declared unfit by a majority of his Cabinet;
- 59% said they would be in favor if military leaders organized a coup to remove Trump from power.
This poll not only sheds light on the increasing acceptance among some Democrats of assassination and insurrection but also reflects a growing desire for legal action against political adversaries.
When asked if the next Democratic administration should pursue criminal charges against members of the Trump administration, responses were telling:
- 77% supported prosecution for efforts to enforce immigration law;
- 72% favored prosecution regarding lethal strikes on boats in South America;
- 66% were in favor concerning actions taken in relation to the conflict in Iran.
New York City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino highlighted these survey results as a warning that such sentiments pose a danger if left unchecked.
Paladino conveyed her concern, stating, “If Democrats gain total power, we are headed for a reign of terror. They want Trump dead, and they intend to imprison his supporters. They aim to extinguish our constitutional rights and manipulate the courts to enact their vision.” It paints a rather bleak picture, doesn’t it?
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis remarked that while Democrats profess to champion democracy, they paradoxically support a military coup by a wide margin.
In another reaction, Andrew Kolvet from Turning Point USA, who lost his founder to an assassination, cynically commented on the situation regarding rising gas prices and the unpredictability of those in power.
Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama also weighed in, suggesting that the issue goes beyond mere politics; it’s fundamentally about sanity versus insanity.
The poll results are certainly unsettling, but perhaps they reflect a broader pattern. Over recent years, various surveys have indicated a growing intolerance among some on the left for differing opinions and an alarming tendency toward aggressive actions.
In fact, a Young America’s Foundation survey conducted months after a high-profile assassination highlighted that 42% of liberal youth believed his views led to the violence he experienced. Furthermore, over half—53%—of these young liberals felt conservative views should be excluded from public discourse.
A Marist poll from September 2025 even indicated that 28% of Democrats agreed with the notion that violence might be necessary to rectify issues in the country.
Another study revealed that 55% of left-leaning respondents considered the assassination of Trump to be, at least somewhat, justified. In the wake of an assassination attempt on Trump in September 2024, when asked if the nation would be better off if he had been killed, 69% disagreed, but a significant 28% of Democrats said yes.
