Today marks the conclusion of the Indian Wells Open with the men’s final set to take place.
This afternoon, world No. 2 Jannik Sinner is set to compete against No. 11 Daniil Medvedev for what many refer to as tennis’s “unofficial fifth major.”
Sinner made it to the final after defeating Alexander Zverev in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) during the semifinals. With this match, he has the chance to join a very exclusive group—only two players have previously won all six ATP Masters 1,000 hard court titles.
His opponent, Medvedev, has encountered Sinner in 15 previous matches but has only secured victory in seven of them. Medvedev got to the final by winning decisively against world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz, effectively ending Alcaraz’s impressive winning streak of 16 matches.
This final will be a first title opportunity for both players at Indian Wells. Medvedev has come close before, having reached the finals in 2023 and 2024, but lost both to Alcaraz.
