MINNEAPOLIS — The Republican candidate challenging “Squad” member Ilhan Omar is warning Americans new to Gov. Tim Walz that she believes Omar’s policies as governor are just as progressive as those of the controversial Minnesota congresswoman.
““He supports her 100 percent,” Republican congressional candidate Dalia Al Akidi told Fox News Digital about Walz’s ties to her Democratic opponent, Rep. Ilhan Omar.
“If you look at the Squad, the first people who supported his nomination, the first politicians, were the far left, progressives posting pictures of him waltzing on social media,” Al Akidi said. “Our Attorney General, Keith Ellison. They celebrated this, they thought this was good for our country. No, we don’t want socialism in our country. Socialism failed to begin with. It’s not going to work here.”
Al-Aqidi, who fled Saddam Hussein’s dictatorship in Iraq with his family and went to the United States where he has worked as a journalist around the world, disputed media portrayals of Waltz as a “centrist” or “moderate” politician.

“Saying Walz is a moderate is like saying Ilhan Omar is pro-Israel,” Al Akidi said. “If you believe that, believe that. Of course Walz wasn’t elected because of his name recognition. It’s because his policies fit. If you look at what’s happened in our district in Minneapolis, at least over the last three years, it’s because of Governor Walz’s policies. The whole world watched our city burn and he did nothing.”
“He didn’t support our law enforcement. He didn’t support us. If you look at the violence rates, the crime rates, we are suffering,” Al Akidi continued. “I would urge anyone who supports Walz to come to Minneapolis and see how horrible our downtown is. Not to mention the scandals, not to mention the corruption. He is far from a moderate.”
A top House Republican from Walz’s home state who is familiar with Republican trends said a “radical” Walz is the “best-case” scenario.

Al Akidi argued that if the two ran for president, “it would be like Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District,” with VP Harris pushing to raise funds to free BLM rioters from prison and Walz waiting days to call in the National Guard.
“If they are in charge, “She supported bail for criminals who are detained after rioting and arson and destruction. So I think this is the first time in American history that we’ve had two far-left progressives on the nomination list. This is very dangerous.”
Omar and Waltz repeatedly praised Walz and Omar have been friends for many years, and Omar was quick to congratulate Walz on his nomination as vice presidential nominee, posting a side-by-side photo with the governor on social media.
“Our North Star, our Governor, has signed school lunches, paid family and sick leave, marijuana legalization, and reproductive rights protections into law,” Omar said. Post to X“We’re bringing the greatness of Minnesota into the ticket.”
