Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas said on MSNBC's “Morning Joe” on Wednesday that record numbers of people are coming to the southern border. “This is because the number of displaced persons exceeded the highest.” “Not just in the Western Hemisphere but around the world” and “the effects of climate change, poverty and rising levels.”[s] Authoritarianism is the root cause of this.
Co-host Willie Geist said, “As you know, Border Patrol agents processed more illegal immigrants in December than any other month in the agency's history. Why is this happening? Is that so? How do you explain it?”
