Ongoing Conflict Between Israel and Iran

As Israel and Iran continue to engage in a series of intense airstrikes, former President Donald Trump has expressed his intention to mediate a resolution between the two nations.

Israel initiated “Operation Rising Lion” on Thursday, executing a wave of airstrikes directed at various Iranian military officials and their nuclear sites.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended these “preemptive” attacks, asserting that Iran was perilously close to achieving nuclear weapons capability, which he views as an existential threat to Israel.

Reports indicate that Israeli actions resulted in the deaths of six high-ranking Iranian military leaders, alongside two nuclear scientists and a senior Iranian political figure, according to the New York Times.

In retaliation, Iran launched its own offensive, with ballistic missiles targeting multiple locations across Israel, including Tel Aviv, which overwhelmed Israel’s Iron Dome defense system.

At the same time, Israel has reached out to the United States for assistance in targeting Iran’s nuclear installations, noting concerns over the capability to neutralize Iran’s underground Fordo uranium enrichment site, as reported by The Times of Israel.

A U.S. official confirmed the request, but clarified that there are no current plans for American strikes against Iran, as indicated by an Axios report.

On Saturday night, Trump clarified the U.S. stance, stating that America had no involvement in the airstrikes against Iran. He warned of severe repercussions if U.S. forces were attacked, claiming an unprecedented level of retaliatory action would follow.

“The U.S. had nothing to do with the attack on Iran, tonight. If we are attacked in any way, shape or form by Iran, the full strength and might of the U.S. Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before. However, we can easily get a deal done between Iran and Israel, and end this bloody conflict!!!” Trump stated.

Following this, Trump reiterated his commitment to broker peace between Israel and Iran, citing past successes.

“Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal, just like I got India and Pakistan to make, using trade with the United States to bring reason, cohesion, and sanity into the talks. Also, during my first term, Serbia and Kosovo were on the brink of war. I’m confident we can find common ground,” he remarked.

“We will have PEACE, soon, between Israel and Iran! Many calls and meetings now taking place. I do a lot, and rarely receive credit for it, but that’s fine; the people understand. MAKE THE MIDDLE EAST GREAT AGAIN!” he added.
