Webb’s Frustrations Surface Following Giants’ Struggles
The San Francisco Giants are having a challenging season, and it seems Logan Webb is feeling the weight of it all. His emotions, it appears, have spilled onto social media.
After a significant defeat to the Blue Jays at Oracle Park on Wednesday, the All-Star pitcher engaged in a heated back-and-forth with critics on X, eventually opting to delete his account.
The exchange began when Jack Loder from KNBR shared a video that critiqued the Giants for lacking leadership and questioned Webb’s performance as the team’s ace. He remarked, “When someone is supposed to be your ace, you’d expect them to give you the best chance to win every week.” Loder noted Webb’s ups and downs, mentioning that while he had a strong June, he struggled in April and had limited participation in May, suggesting there’s always been something slightly off in his performance.
In what seems like a moment of frustration, Webb reacted to Loder, saying, “The sad thing is they allow people like you in their locker room.”
When KNBR host Adam Copeland chimed in, Webb shut him down with a quick “Who are you?”
Another critic expressed embarrassment over Webb’s public replies, to which he angrily replied, “Are you being paid by KNBR?”
In response to a different negative comment, he added, “Honestly, you probably don’t know anything about the losers sitting on the couch who didn’t make the Little League team.”
Regardless of whether Webb decides to return to social media, he might end up with some explaining to do.
After a troubling performance on the mound, reactions online were mixed. Webb allowed five runs during the first inning—one of which was a grand slam to Kazuma Okamoto. Although he steadied himself by the seventh inning, the bullpen faltered, and the Giants’ offense was nearly silenced by Dylan Cease, culminating in a 10-0 loss.
Despite all this, Webb is slated to play in the All-Star Game next week. But instead of facing questions about his season performance, he’s likely to find himself addressing the fallout from his social media activity.
