Eleven third and fourth grade students were taken to the hospital as a precaution on Thursday after investigators reported “difficulty in breathing” despite failing to determine the possible cause of the illness.
More than 100 students from Wentworth School in Scarborough, Maine, said one student had passed away and others had “began to Riser at the school's cafeteria stage when the president began to feel physically unhappy,” the press conference said.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene just after 10am, with 11 students being “a “taken by Dr. Diane Nadeau, Dr. at Scarborough School, for further assessment and precautions.”
The remaining students were walking to nearby Scarborough High School, where fire investigators worked to determine the possible causes of the reported illness.

Students and staff were “completely back” to the building as of Monday afternoon, Nadeau said.
Scarborough Fire Chief Rich Kindelan added that he repeated the timeline of Nadeau's events, receiving reports of potential gas leaks and “students with difficulty breathing.”

“We have acquired buildings twice as redundant from two different fire station meters. “And we found no dangers in the building or the area of the incident.”
“The schools have fire detection and carbon monoxide detection in the areas they need,” he continued.

The school's supervisor said temperatures were not assessed when students were grouped into risers. She was unclear whether the school concert would take place on Thursday night.
