The company plans to sell 70 shares of Danaher stock for around $221. After trading on Monday, the Jim Cramer Charitable Trust will have a total of 400 shares of DHR, adjusting its stake from approximately 2.75% to about 2.3%. The position in Danaher is being downgraded from Discipline to the S&P Short Range Oscillator, a tool used to gauge when the market is technically overbought or oversold. Following last Friday’s market rally, the oscillator entered overbought territory, registering a value of 4.96%. Values above 4% suggest the market is overbought, and based on Monday’s activities, we think the oscillator could shift further into this zone. While overbought conditions don’t automatically lead to selling, they might prompt some investors to take profits after strong price increases.
Danaher stock has seen a decline since the start of the year, but it has risen 22% since the last acquisition in late September. One factor contributing to Danaher’s recent uptick was better-than-anticipated earnings, with shares jumping about 6% last Tuesday following third-quarter results that exceeded Wall Street estimates. Although the management’s forecast for the fourth quarter was slightly below expectations, the initial sales growth projection of 3-6% was more promising than feared.
We’re feeling optimistic about Danaher’s future, as it seems to be returning to a trend of surpassing earnings expectations. Yet, we are deciding to trim some of our gains, considering the stock has a pattern of faltering when conditions start to improve. We want to avoid experiencing that again. This sale will incur a loss of about 7% on shares acquired in March and April 2022. Remember, not every winner can be sold.
