What Danny Wolf attributes to a challenging Summer League start

Las Vegas – Danny Wolf’s Summer League Debut

Fans had high expectations for Danny Wolf, the rookie whose highlight reel made waves among basketball enthusiasts. His first game in the summer league provided a glimpse of what he could bring to the team.

Despite a subpar performance, scoring only four points and going 5-for-5 shooting in a 90-81 loss, there were moments to appreciate. “Honestly, it wasn’t what I wanted at all,” Wolf said. “I need to shake it off and keep moving forward. It was my first taste of the NBA experience, and I felt a mix of anxiety and excitement. I’m learning to just put this behind me and grow from it,” he added.

Being the top prospect out of Michigan, Wolf was picked 27th overall by Brooklyn, fitting their vision for high-caliber basketball. In that initial match against the Thunder, he recorded two assists but faced the challenge of four turnovers.

“It’s just one game. The Thunder really pressed us and switched up their tactics,” Wolf reflected. “I want to improve the game pace on my end. This was my first experience, and I think there’s a lot to take away from it.”

Starting as a power forward alongside center Drewtim, Wolf has another chance to show his potential against Washington on Sunday. Standing at 6-foot-10½ and weighing 251.8 pounds, he can take on a role similar to that of Trendern Watford, albeit in a more robust way.

“I want to be myself; I don’t want to just fit a mold,” said coach Jordi Fernandez. “I’m looking for how he adapts to the NBA and how he performs in crucial moments. His passing skills, capability to make plays, and physical size—all these qualities are advantageous. It’s exciting to see him integrate with his teammates and carve out his own niche.”

In related news, Ben Saraf faced his own struggles during his debut, finishing with three points, a single assist, and two turnovers in just under 18 minutes on the court. The team’s results were less than stellar, with Israeli security guards also noted to finish minus 11.

Meanwhile, Grant Nelson contributed with five points and two rebounds as he works to secure a two-way contract, despite going undrafted.
