What I learned at Bridgestone Winter Driving School

Do you think your tires are enough to tackle harsh winter road conditions?

Think about it again.

Every year, thousands of drivers lose control of ice roads due to simple mistakes. They rely on tires that are not made to suit these conditions.

I recently attended Bridesgain Winter Driving School in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, where I tried out a variety of winter tires in the ice and snow, experiencing the real difference between control and disaster.

First, let's look at different types of tires.

winter

The tire with the 3pmsf (3 Peak Mountain Snowflake) symbol is a true winter tire. Tested for best performance in the worst winter conditions.

On the other hand, the M+S (mud and snow) symbol shows some traction, but is often seen on all-season tires.

Another metric you want to see is the speed rating. Slow ratings such as Q, R, S are usually suitable for snow.

summer

Summer tires are designed for heat resistance, maximum traction and performance driving.

All season

All-season tires offer mild winter driving ability, long wear and ride comfort. They don't offer particularly good performance in any climate, but for most people it's a good thing.

Founded in 1983, Bridgestone Winter Driving School offers the right car control when roads are covered in snow and ice, from teens and seniors to professional racers, truckers and fleet drivers. We provide practical education for.

We tested the latest Bridgestone Winter Tyres, The New Blizzak 6. They were well impressed with the short stopping distance and excellent traction that they purchased the set for the SUV. They have been dealing with Buffalo winters at aplomb.

I left thinking that school (or equivalent) should be the requirement for all drivers, a warm climb. Everything about the school is based on grip and traction. This can be lost even on dry pavement due to excessive braking, acceleration and steering.

And for drivers who regularly deal with snow, mastering the art of winter driving can mean the difference between life and death.
