McDonald’s Coffee: A Surprising Hit Among Enthusiasts
McDonald’s recently gained attention for its coffee, which many might not have expected. Despite being a fast-food chain, the coffee has drawn in a dedicated fan base.
Donna Locklin from Salado, Texas, shared her experience, noting, “It’s consistently good.” She started enjoying McDonald’s coffee about two decades ago. Although she sometimes opts for the 25-cent “Senior Cup,” it quickly became a go-to choice for her.
“It’s not overly strong, and the color is a nice, rich brown,” she mentioned. “It’s never bitter, and even if it’s not fresh, they’ll make you a new pot right away.” Locklin’s sentiments echo those of many others who have taken to social media to share their favorable coffee stories.
One Reddit user asked, “Why does McDonald’s coffee often taste better than what I brew at home?” to which another user replied, “Don’t be embarrassed; I feel the same way.” Others chimed in, emphasizing the coffee’s affordability.
“We pay attention to every detail to ensure the best results.”
With countless coffee options available today, it’s intriguing what sets McCafé apart. McDonald’s chef Mike Ringo elaborated on the brand’s coffee history, noting, “Coffee has been a menu item since 1948, right when there were just nine items.” He explained that the company has spent years refining its blends to achieve the delightful taste that customers enjoy today. From selecting beans to the roasting process, careful attention is given to every detail.
McDonald’s proudly uses 100% Arabica coffee beans sourced from Rainforest Alliance certified farms or those in the McCafé Sustainability Improvement Platform (SIP) program. Ringo explained, “This blend was developed specifically for McDonald’s McCafé. It’s a medium dark roast with fruity, floral, and chocolate notes.”
“There’s nothing like starting your day with great coffee; we’ve worked hard to perfect it.”
Ringo isn’t just focused on the iconic burgers and fries; he noted that “when we open our doors in the morning, we emphasize the breakfast experience.” The coffee seems to be just as beloved, if not more so, than any other menu item.
What’s the secret behind McDonald’s coffee? Ringo attributes it to a blend of factors that keep customers coming back. “At McDonald’s, we focus on the little details,” he said, highlighting the partnership that secures top-tier beans and roasting techniques.
Despite my rising prices for the Senior Cup, Locklin and her sisters, who live in different cities, regularly gather over coffee at McDonald’s. “It’s always just right,” she concluded.
