The Republican National Convention enters its second day in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Tuesday with a packed schedule of events and speakers touching on a wide range of topics, with immigration and crime expected to be key topics.
The trial is set to begin less than 24 hours after former President Donald Trump, formally nominated as the Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election, arrives to cheers and a rapturous welcome.
Breitbart News reported that Trump appeared to shake hands with Tucker Carlson, Rep. Byron Donald (R-Fla.) and family members, including Donald Trump Jr., as he looked on proudly at his father, who nearly lost his own life just two days earlier.
But not everyone in attendance was as warm toward Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who was booed loudly when he appeared.
In February 2021, McConnell blamed Trump for the January 6 riot, saying the former president was “practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of that day.”
Trump called McConnell’s enabling of the Democratic spending a “disgrace.”

President Trump on Monday announced Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio as his running mate.
AP Reports A number of speakers are expected to praise the former president’s strength and resilience Tuesday in the wake of the mass shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania.
That will likely include Nikki Haley, a one-time primary rival who was added to the list of candidates at the last minute.
The former United Nations ambassador and governor of South Carolina was Trump’s last major challenger in this year’s primary election.

Last week, she announced that she would instruct delegates to the convention to vote for Trump, Breitbart News reported.
Haley said in May that she planned to vote for Trump in the next presidential election.
Haley added that while “President Trump wasn’t perfect” when it came to specific border-related policies or supporting “capitalism and freedom,” President Joe Biden “has been a disaster.”
An Associated Press report on Tuesday outlined changes to the immigration and crime outline, under the theme “Make America Safe Again,” according to the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee.
Convention organizers aren’t expected to announce until late Tuesday morning who will speak on the second day of the event.
