A group of friends travels to Florida for what was supposed to be a fun bachelor party, but things take a tragic turn when three participants are hospitalized and the best man dies.

As Blaze News previously reported, several University of Alabama fraternity brothers who graduated together traveled to Santa Rosa Beach from Georgia, Alabama and Connecticut for the May 2022 party.
Cocaine was reportedly distributed to partygoers during the celebration, leaving one bachelor partygoer in a state of emergency. When officers arrived at the scene, they found 26-year-old Thomas Gleason unconscious on the floor. While deputies were administering life-saving treatment to Gleason, three other men at the bachelor party “collapsed and became unresponsive.”
The Walton County Sheriff's Office said in a statement. statement“Everyone was taken to Sacred Heart, but a few days later Thomas Gleason, 26, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, was taken off life support and passed away in front of his parents.”
Bob Gleason, Thomas Gleason's father, said: AL.com“By the time we got to Charlotte [for a layover]The doctor said, “Do you want to keep him alive?'' It was like that. ”

The three friends who were hospitalized spent several days in the ICU until they recovered.
The groom-to-be was reportedly not one of the victims and his wedding was called off following the tragedy. Gleason was to be best man. It is not clear whether the wedding has been postponed.
Authorities launched an investigation into the tragic death and determined that Gleason's cause of death was a “lethal dose of fentanyl.”
Bob Gleason said, “When the toxicology came back, Tom wasn't even drunk. He was smart about himself, and so were the others. But the fentanyl levels… It was off the charts.”
Investigators determined that fentanyl was mixed with the cocaine that Tom Gleason ingested. Gleason's fraternity brother and party attendee, John “JD” Neighbors, 26, of Mountain Brook, Alabama, allegedly brought cocaine to the party and distributed it to his friends.
Walton County Sheriff Michael Adkinson said, “This case relied heavily on witness testimony proving that Nabors provided drugs during the party. A single decision changed the course of countless lives. ”.
Grand Jury November 15, 2022 was indicted Naboor is charged with a felony count of distribution of a controlled substance causing death. He turned himself in to the Walton County Jail on November 30, 2022 and was released on $25,000 bond.
On December 12, 2024, Judge Jeffrey Lewis issued the following sentence for Nabors: 8 years imprisonment Cases of fatal fentanyl poisoning. His sentence will be suspended for five years.
Sheriff Adkinson said: “My heart breaks for the Gleason family and the entire community who are still mourning. I want this to be a lesson to everyone.”
