Authorities are still trying to determine what caused the small commuter aircraft to fall in the icy Bering Sea. The Nome Volunteer Fire Department says that the victim's bodies, written on Facebook over the weekend, have been recovered and “officially taken home.”
The single-engine turboprop plane had been moving from the Unalakleet to the Hub community when it disappeared Thursday afternoon.
