You may remember (or maybe you were about to forget) that it took us four days to predict that Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election.
This time, results are expected to be known much more quickly, despite polls showing it as the closest election in more than 60 years.
Here's a look at when Americans will know the identity of our 47th president, based on the Associated Press' 2016 race predictions.

From 7pm to 11pm
Most states have convened within this period and most states will convene Immediately After voting ends.
Ohio is likely to be the first of eight battleground states to be called, with Trump likely to win the Buckeye state's 17 electors.
Republicans are expected to take control of the Senate shortly after voting ends in Montana at 10 p.m. ET.
11pm to 12am
We expect there to be votes in two more battleground states, Georgia and North Carolina, with the bulk of the votes coming from the third battleground state, Arizona.
All three states are in the mix, meaning either Trump or Harris could be favored.
Four years ago, North Carolina and Georgia did not convene until the 10th and 16th, respectively, after the election. But due to changes in state law, officials are optimistic that most votes will be counted by late Tuesday night.
Arizona was the first battleground state to be called in 2020. But media outlets may wait until Wednesday afternoon to announce their candidacy, as large numbers of mail-in votes cannot be counted until after polls close.
12:00 a.m. to 2:30 a.m.
At this point, calls are expected in two more battleground states: Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
This is also the earliest time a presidential election winner is expected to be announced. The best chance for a timely declaration is for Trump or Harris to win overwhelming victories in Georgia, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
Wednesday
Michigan is another battleground state where Ms. Harris has achieved her best poll numbers, with unofficial results expected within 24 hours after the last round of voting ends at 9 p.m. Tuesday. It is expected that
Depending on results elsewhere, the nation may be waiting to see results from the Wolverine State, much like Florida did 24 years ago.
Barring a major upset, Alaska is expected to become the final state around noon Wednesday, with Trump expected to win three electoral votes.
