Social Security Payments for November 2025
During November 2025, most recipients of social security retirement benefits can expect their monthly payments as per the usual schedule, either through checks or direct deposits. However, there’s been some confusion regarding Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments, as those recipients won’t receive their payments this month.
Although Social Security and SSI are separate programs, it’s significant to note that around half of those on SSI also benefit from Social Security.
Payment Schedule for Social Security Retirement Benefits
If you’re collecting regular Social Security benefits, your payment will arrive on specific days depending on your birthday and when you initially began receiving these benefits:
- November 3rd – Recipients who began their benefits before May 1997.
- November 12th – Those born from the 1st to the 10th of the month.
- November 19th – For birthdays from the 11th to the 20th.
- November 26th – Recipients with birthdays between the 21st and 31st.
The complete payment calendar for Social Security in 2025 can be found on the official SSA website.
Why Some Recipients Won’t Be Paid in November
Individuals solely on SSI will not receive their November payment because the 1st falls on a Saturday. Consequently, the Social Security Administration will process these payments on the preceding Friday, October 31st. So, while it may seem like there’s no payment for November, recipients will still get a total of 12 payments this year.
This situation aligns with standard SSA policy: when payment dates coincide with weekends or federal holidays, payments are advanced to the previous business day.
Impact of the Ongoing Government Shutdown on Social Security
As the government shutdown began on October 1st, it resulted in many federal employees, including those at the SSA, being furloughed. This has led to certain social security services being limited.
Nevertheless, social security benefits remain uninterrupted amid the shutdown, even with budget issues. By law, these benefit programs are classified as mandatory expenditures and aren’t reliant on congressional approval, ensuring that payments will continue normally throughout the shutdown.
Assistance for Missing Social Security Payments
If you’ve missed your scheduled payment, the SSA recommends waiting three days before reaching out. Most payments are processed electronically and typically arrive on schedule.
For further assistance, you can contact the SSA by phone at 1-800-772-1213 or TTY 1-800-325-0778. Their office hours are Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
