Speaking on FNC’s “The Ingraham Angle” on Friday, Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) criticized the Secret Service for its response after the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Blackburn’s comments came after a Wall Street Journal report said he had flown a drone over the rally near Butler, Pennsylvania.
“Senator, this is unbelievable,” host Laura Ingraham said. “Sources told the Post that the route taken indicates that Crooks flew the drone multiple times while reconnoitering and scouting the site. He’s been investigating other Trump events and appears to have been investigating the Democratic National Convention. But this just raises more questions about the director of the Secret Service. This is getting worse by the day.”
“That’s certainly true,” Blackburn responded. “There’s been no transparency whatsoever. She hasn’t held a press conference. Normally the chief director would hold a press conference to let people know what’s going on. What’s so frustrating about this, Laura, is we’re only getting piecemeal information. We’re trying to establish what’s information and what’s rumor and hold the director accountable.”
She added: “Her job is not about failing to meet sales or case-closing quotas. When you fail, people die, and that’s exactly what happened with the assassination attempt on Saturday that left people dead and injured.”
