White House dodges on ‘serious national security threat’ after House Intelligence Committee sounds alarm

White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan dodged questions about the “grave national security threat” that President Biden’s administration notified Congress of on Wednesday.

The House Intelligence Committee told all members on Wednesday that it had briefed leaders on the situation, and Chairman Mike Turner called on Biden to declassify information about threats to the American people.

Reporters pressed Mr. Sullivan to elaborate on the threat, but he remained unmoved.

“What can you say about this threat and what the administration is planning?” a reporter asked.

“So, first, I contacted the Group of Eight earlier this week and offered to attend a personal briefing for the Group of Eight. In fact, I have a briefing scheduled for tomorrow for four members of the House of Eight. “I did. It’s on the books,” Sullivan replied. “So I was a little surprised to see Congressman Turner appear in public today ahead of a bookkeeping meeting to sit with tomorrow’s intelligence and defense experts.”

“But just to be clear, Mr. Turner says this is an urgent issue in terms of destabilizing foreign military capabilities. Are you noticing the new emergence of?” another reporter asked.

Sullivan reiterated that he had contacted Turner to set up a meeting, but added that that in itself was “highly unusual.”

“But do you think this is pretty much the same thing?” the reporter asked. “When you set up that meeting to contact them, did you intend to discuss this issue?”

“Well, once again, I’ll leave it up to you to draw any connections. All I can say is that I contacted Turner to see him. Turner has not been out in public. “I’m going to see Turner tomorrow,” Sullivan concluded.
