White House Responds to Mayor Baraka’s Lawsuit

The White House has taken a stand against New Jersey Mayor Ras Baraka. Baraka recently filed a lawsuit after he was arrested during a protest outside an immigration facility, where he had been charged with criminal trespassing last month.

Baraka, who is a prominent Democratic candidate for New Jersey’s governor, claims his May 9 arrest was unjust and characterized it as a case of “false arrests and malicious prosecutions.” This lawsuit specifically targets Alina Haba, the interim U.S. Attorney for New Jersey.

During a demonstration outside the facility, Baraka was joined by several lawmakers, including Robert Menendez and Bonnie Watson Coleman. Although charges were filed against him, the U.S. Attorney’s Office dropped them just 13 days later, stating it wanted to “move forward.”

The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in New Jersey accuses Haba of political misconduct regarding his arrest, which took place just outside the Delaney Hall detention center near Newark Liberty International Airport. Baraka was taken into custody after reportedly disregarding warnings from law enforcement and was held for several hours before his release.

In his lawsuit, Baraka’s legal team describes Haba’s actions as politically motivated, arguing that she stepped outside her role within the judicial process. They seek damages for what they deem as wrongful actions against him, which also include statements made on social media related to his case.

In response, White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson called the lawsuit a “valuable” yet “deep attempt” to stay relevant in the political landscape. She likened it to previous tactics used by Baraka, implying it was a desperate way to connect with left-wing voters.

“This unworthy lawsuit is just his latest desperate attempt to maintain connections among left-wing Democrat bases,” Jackson stated.

On the other hand, Haba dismissed Baraka’s claims, finding them laughable. She suggested he focus on pressing issues like violent crime and public safety instead. “Time is much more commonly used for the great citizens of New Jersey,” she noted in a post this week.

Meanwhile, it’s worth mentioning that Baraka’s legal team hasn’t gotten back to requests for comments regarding this matter.
