White teacher declares victory after union allegedly tried to block him from board position over his race

Exclusive – California teachers unions blocked white teachers from applying for jobs because of their race. Quickly succumbed in federal court The lawsuit lasted three months, but the plaintiffs believed the litigation would take years.

Isaac Newman, a teacher in the Elk Grove School District, has filed a federal lawsuit against the local Elk Grove Education Association for violations of his Title VII civil rights. The lawsuit, spearheaded by the Fairness Center, claims that a “BIPOC” seat on the union's executive committee violates the law by not accepting applications from white people.

“My lawsuit is a victory for racial equality,” Newman told Fox News Digital. “It's a huge victory. We forced them to capitulate within months and admit they were wrong.”

As part of the terms, the union eliminated racially discriminatory board seats, committed to non-discrimination practices and offered to pay Newman $12,000 plus attorney's fees.

“I'm going to run for the board to hold them accountable,” Newman said, adding that he would donate the settlement money to charity.

If she becomes a board member, Newman will seek to reverse what she calls “outrageous” diversity, equity and inclusion training for teachers in the district.

“I started to think, 'This is crazy. I'm not going to get this training anymore,'” he said. “I actually asked the district, 'What happens if I don't get the training?' and they wouldn't tell me. So they don't actually tell you the consequences, they just mandate it.”

The district used Epoch Education, whose director called staff members who don't embrace concepts found in critical race theory, such as white privilege, “toxic to the culture and climate.” Equity trainers also warned that the American flag should not be used in public. A symbol of “hatred” and “extremism.”

Newman plans to seek leadership positions to challenge the status quo.

“It is the same union and leadership that has refused to support my complaints about the racism revealed in the training,” and he believes the training suggests “being white is racially and morally inferior.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Elk Grove Workers Union for comment.

“I knew it was going to be a pretty long battle, so it still doesn't fully sink in that I won this first battle here, but of course the battle isn't over,” Newman concluded. “It warms my heart to know that this will inspire others who are facing a similar situation to step up.” [To know] You can actually make a difference, and the amazing thing is, you can do it in California.”

Newman's lawsuit cites Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which bans racial discrimination by labor unions, and California's Fair Employment and Housing Act.

“Union leaders' quick caving to Isaac's demands makes it clear that the union believes it has no legal basis to protect its racially discriminatory board seats,” said Nathan McGrath, president and general counsel of the Fairness Center. “Isaac's victory confirms that unions cannot escape anti-discrimination laws.”
