Country music legend Willie Nelson is paying tribute to Border Patrol agents by releasing a new cover of Rodney Crowell’s 2019 song “The Border.”
The tribute comes after Nelson endorsed Joe Biden in 2020, when then-President Joe Biden promised to open the southern border and reverse border security and immigration measures taken by then-President Donald Trump. Some people may feel that this is not appropriate.
“The Border” is part of Willie Nelson’s new album of the same name, which the singer announced will be released on May 31st.
In his performance of Crowell’s song, Nelson takes on the perspective of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent. “Border patrol always comes at a price,” he sings. “Wherever smugglers do business, I stand up for myself.”
Then he sings: “I put on my bulletproof vest and go home to Maria, the weight of the whole wide world on her chest.”
“The Border” was co-written by Crowell and Allen Shamblin.Featured on Crowell’s 2019 album texas.
Willie Nelson, who turns 91 this year, supported Joe Biden’s candidacy for the 2020 presidential election. At the time, Biden promised to open the southern border to illegal immigrants, pledging to “end long-term detention” and “ensure that immigrants live in dignity and safety.” It is pending a court hearing. ”
Breitbart News listed 64 ways the Biden administration has opened the U.S. border to illegal immigration. It is estimated that more than 7 million illegal immigrants have entered the country under President Biden’s administration.
