Wisconsin man convicted in Green Bay double stabbing case

A Wisconsin man has been convicted of stabbing to death two women whose bodies were found in a Green Bay home last year.

After deliberating for about an hour Monday, a Brown County jury returned two counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the deaths of Rhonda Segelski, 58, and Paula O’Connor, 53, both of Green Bay. Richard Sotka, 49, was found guilty of the crime. Bellevue, WLUK-TV reported.

A Wisconsin man has been convicted of stabbing two women to death at a Green Bay home last year.

Sotka, of Green Bay, is scheduled to be sentenced May 20 and could face two life sentences.

Segelski and O’Connor were found stabbed to death in their home in January 2023. According to the criminal complaint, Sotka told officers that he “snapped” the women and killed them because he felt “humiliated” by being laughed at.

He said he then cut off the electronic monitoring bracelet he was required to wear, threw it in a ditch and drove to Arkansas, where he was arrested the same day his body was discovered. Sotka is required to wear a monitoring device while out on bail in Oconto County and is charged with stalking and violating a restraining order.
