According to reports, a woman in Maryland discovered her dog, who she thought had been euthanized, was alive and up for adoption.
Christy Pereira adopted her beloved dog, Bo, in December 2022, but unfortunately had to be “euthanized” due to complications from an illness. Fox 5 DC reported.
Pereira told the station she recently found Beau on a Facebook page for a group that was looking to adopt him.

Now she says she wants her dog back.
“I don’t think that someone who just wants to get rid of their dog would feel anywhere near how I feel about this and how I’ve felt about it… none of it was easy,” Pereira told Fox 5.

Pereira ultimately took Beau to Montgomery County Animal Services, who made the decision to have him euthanized, according to Fox 5.
Fox 5 obtained a copy of the paperwork owners fill out when they bring their dogs in to be euthanized in Montgomery County.
“The form includes a section in bold that states the pet owner requests humane euthanasia, but also states that the pet can be treated and adopted if Montgomery County Animal Services deems the pet treatable and adoptable,” Fox 5 reported.

Montgomery County Animal Services conducted an independent evaluation and found that Beau had liver problems., and euthanasia was deemed inappropriate.
The group then decided to return the dog to where Pereira had adopted it, Fox 5 reported.
Pereira said she thought the dog had been euthanized, but she never received a call from animal protection services or an adoption group.
