Woman loses a part of her limb at a mini-golf course in California

Tragic Accident at Ventura Mini Golf Course

A mini golf venue in Ventura, California, was the scene of a distressing incident last week when a woman was severely injured. Her family rushed to her aid as emergency medical services were needed.

Golf N’Staff Ventura features a large miniature golf course, complete with whimsical castles and plenty of palm trees. Unfortunately, these palm trees became a cause for concern for the Magana family, who were there celebrating their son Damien’s 13th birthday.

“Then we went straight to stop the bleeding,” recalled Amand, the father. He, along with his sons Damien and Junior, were enjoying the game when Amand heard a loud crack, like branches breaking.

At about 5:30 PM, Adera Magana, 53, was seated on a bench watching her family play when one of the palm trees fell directly on her.

Junior recounted, “I was looking for the ball when I heard something screech, like a branch snapping. I didn’t think much of it until there was this huge noise, and suddenly people were running toward my mom.”

With the help of a couple of strangers, Junior and his father managed to lift the fallen tree off Adera while staff took care of young Damien.

“We decided to apply pressure to stop the bleeding,” Junior added. Bystanders used belts as makeshift tourniquets, while others called 911.

The fire department arrived approximately 20 minutes later and transported Adera to Ventura County Medical Center, which was already dealing with its own issues.

The surgeon attempted to save Adera’s arm, but the injuries were too severe; the blood vessels and nerves suffered extensive damage. By the following day, it became necessary to amputate her arm just below the shoulder.

While the manager of Golf N’Staff chose not to comment on the incident, they confirmed that the mini golf course remains open.

Junior tried to explain the family’s birthday plans, but, understandably, his thoughts trailed off due to the unfolding tragedy.

“We wanted to make his birthday special, especially since it fell on a weekday. We were just trying to think of something fun. So we decided on mini golf and dinner. But, well, that didn’t go as planned,” he shared.

Meanwhile, Adera’s daughter, Nancy, who was not present at the golf course, highlighted how profoundly the accident has affected Damien.

Adera now faces more surgeries, as well as the challenge of learning to use prosthetics and enduring rehabilitation.

“She’s incredibly strong. Even now, she can’t speak, but she can nod. It’s going to be a long road ahead for her,” Nancy remarked about her mother.

With four kids and a grandchild, Adera creates bolts for the automated leasing industry, showcasing the everyday life that was so abruptly disrupted.
