Arizona authorities made a dramatic rescue after a woman went missing for three days while hiking with her father.
On Friday, June 13th, Coconino County officials received a report about Janelle Banda, 32, who had gone missing from a campsite in an area identified as the “Earth of the World.” It was believed that she had left the campsite and ventured into a nearby canyon.
The sheriff’s search and rescue team initiated a search, including a descent into the canyon, late that night. Unfortunately, they could not locate Banda during that first night and continued their efforts over the weekend with the assistance of other agencies.
By Monday, the search team returned to the canyon and successfully found Banda around noon. It was reported that she was dehydrated and had sustained some minor injuries.
Banda had been hiking with her father when he disappeared from the campsite for reasons that remain unclear, according to her sister, Sara Banda.
Now, the focus for Banda’s family has shifted toward her recovery. Her sister expressed gratitude for the efforts of those who helped in the search. She mentioned feeling a deep sense of hope throughout the ordeal, saying, “Even when we feel the lowest… we’ll find her wherever she is.”
