She didn’t really come away impressed, and honestly, who could blame her?
In an unusual turn of events, a woman from Brooklyn caught attention after her blind date, who canceled on her last minute, acted pretty ungraciously after she got her hands on some Knicks playoff tickets.
Earlier this month, Sarah Stone showed up an hour early to meet her date at Nomad’s Cafe Carmellini. She ordered a glass of wine, casually waiting for him.
Coincidentally, it was Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals, with the Knicks playing against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Then, out of the blue, a text popped up on her phone.
“He texted, ‘Please don’t kill me,’” she recounted.
Seeing that, she felt compelled to call him.
“He said, ‘Hey, he gave me tickets to a Knicks game, so I can’t see you,’” she remembered.
Confused, she responded, “What do you mean? I’m here, enjoying cocktails. I was really looking forward to this.” And he just goes, “Yeah, but it’s the playoffs and I got a great ticket.”
Stone inquired if he could take her along to the game, which, by the way, the Knicks ended up winning 108-102.
“I was like, ‘Well, can’t you ask for an extra ticket?’ I really wanted to go,” she said, but he replied, “No, I’m his plus one.”
Initially, they met through mutual friends. He later apologized, suggesting they reschedule and that he would cover her drink costs, but the damage was done.
“He was like, ‘Sorry, let’s make it up. I’ll send you the money for the cocktails,’” she noted.
But she simply wasn’t having it. “I said no because, honestly, I was annoyed,” she added.
After the awkward call, she decided to share her experience in a video from her spot at the eatery.
“I looked cute and wanted to vent. I thought, can you believe this?”
To her surprise, the video gained massive traction. She even commented on the Knicks’ official page, playfully asking them to “forgive him.”
Spike Lee even chimed in, referencing former Knick J.R. Smith,” Stone mentioned.
Many sided with the guy, claiming they wouldn’t pass up the chance to attend a game like that.
“He clearly has his priorities straight,” one commenter wrote, while another said, “He made a smart move.”
Some even viewed his choice as a sign of good character.
“Girl, that’s a green flag! He’s dedicated and loyal,” one person remarked.
Others jokingly suggested she needed a reality check.
“She thinks she’s more important than the Knicks?!?!” another person added.
“If Kylie Jenner can skip the Met Gala to watch the Knicks, so can you,” someone said, referencing a time Timothée Chalamet made a similar choice.
“Everyone’s Team Knicks. They’re probably judging me,” Stone joked about the comments.
“But honestly, I feel a bit played and foolish. I was all dressed up, hair done, makeup on—looking good!”
Interestingly, it turned out her date ended up with the Knicks fan who helped him get tickets.
They met just two days later, but Stone was far from impressed.
“Yeah, I wasn’t interested. I mean, he wasn’t even cute,” she said, laughing.
The video sparked the interest of multiple men asking her out, but so far, she hasn’t taken anyone up on it.
“I’ve received a ton of DMs like, ‘I wouldn’t do that,’ ‘Let me take you to a Knicks game,’ ‘You’re too pretty for that,’ and even, ‘I just can’t stand the Knicks,’” she shared.
