WrestleMania 40: Damian Priest stuns Drew McIntyre to win World Heavyweight Championship

Drew McIntyre put together a WrestleMania moment in Philadelphia on Sunday night, and it even took place in front of fans.

But it didn’t last long.

The night started with McIntyre defeating Rollins. However, McIntyre mocked CM Punk after winning the title. There was no such thing with punk. He knocked McIntyre off his position atop the announce table and nailed him with a triceps lock.

Out of nowhere, Damian Priest came along and cashed in his Money in the Bank contract for an instant match. Priest hit the South of Heaven and nailed McIntyre.

Priest left Philadelphia as the new world heavyweight champion. He had lost the tag team titles to Finn Balor during Night.

McIntyre first defeated Rollins the night after “The Visionary” fought in the main event of WrestleMania Night 1. It took all of McIntyre’s strength to finish off Rollins.

McIntyre seemed to get the start by catching Rollins off guard with a Claymore. He only got a two count, but continued his offensive, attacking Rollins’ knee that he hurt in the first night’s match at the hands of Roman Reigns and The Rock.

Rollins turned the tables and hit a Pedigree on the outside of the ring in front of Punk and the rest of the match announce team. He also hit a stomp, but it only got a two count.

The two continued to go back and forth. Rollins’ Stomp didn’t result in a pinfall, and McIntyre’s Future Shock DDT didn’t result in a pin. To tease Punk, McIntyre tried to hit the Go to Sleep, but Rollins countered.

McIntyre hit another Claymore, but again couldn’t get the pin. He took the fight outside and was looking to punish Rollins as much as possible. However, Rollins stomped him off the announce table.

It will take two more Claymores from McIntyre to finally separate Rollins.
