Chinese President Xi Jinping Concludes U.S. Visit with National Archives Tour

Chinese President Xi Jinping is wrapping up his state visit to the United States with a planned tour of the National Archives, following what President Donald Trump described as a “very productive meeting.”

On Friday, after having tea at the White House with First Lady Melania Trump and Chinese First Lady Peng Liyuan, Trump and Xi are expected to explore Washington, D.C.’s collection of historical artifacts.

During their tea, the two leaders did not address questions from the media, although Trump expressed optimism about the outcomes of the visit, suggesting U.S. farmers would benefit significantly from their discussions.

President Trump stated, “I think our farmers are going to be very happy — a lot of very positive things happened… Great things for both countries. It’s just been very, very productive.”

Trump also remarked, “We’ve had a tremendous visit from two spectacular people, and we really enjoyed it, and I think we’ve made tremendous strides. We’ve made great strides, very positive for both countries.”

Xi is anticipated to view key American documents such as the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights, as per reports. The Archives are currently showcasing an exhibit celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, which coincides with Xi’s visit, highlighting its significance.

As part of their tour, Trump and Xi will also examine a collection of diplomatic and trade documents, including a treaty established in 1844 between the U.S. and the Qing dynasty, as well as another treaty from 1858, and a historic letter from the Guangxu emperor to President Grover Cleveland.

This morning, Trump shared his positive feelings after meeting with Xi, mentioning that the Chinese leader seemed receptive to the idea of using the term “super intelligence” instead of “artificial intelligence,” a term that, according to Trump, aligns better with the technology’s capabilities.

He posted on Truth Social, “Very productive meeting with President Xi for both the U.S.A. and China. Tremendous things will be happening. Like almost everyone else, he seemed to like calling the poorly and inaccurately named Artificial Intelligence to a far more accurate and important name, SUPER INTELLIGENCE. That would be ‘SUPER!’”

Notably, Xi is the first Chinese leader to make a second state visit to the United States, his previous trip having occurred in September 2015 during Barack Obama’s presidency.
