A man from Butler, Pennsylvania, has admitted to making threats to kill President Donald Trump, other government officials, and ICE agents, as stated by the Department of Justice.
Sean Momper, 32, entered a guilty plea on Monday regarding two charges related to threatening federal officials and law enforcement officers. His arrest took place on April 9, 2025, following an investigation into threats made by a YouTube user using the name “Mr. Satan.”
The FBI became aware of Momper’s YouTube account on April 8, 2025, and was able to trace it back to his residence in Butler.
Between January 15 and April 5, Momper made several alarming statements, including intentions to assassinate President Trump and comments that ICE agents were akin to terrorists that should be killed. He even spoke about wanting to “go on a mass shooting spree.”
On February 17, he expressed violent intentions in a post: “No, Trump and Elon, we’re just going to start killing people… those who stand in his way.” He claimed there would be an “American Revolution 2.0” as certain policies would fuel a desire for revenge.
An investigation revealed that, post-Trump’s election, Momper had acquired a firearms license and had been purchasing weapons and ammunition regularly. In one of his posts, he discussed his stockpiling of arms and armor since Trump’s second inauguration.
He later threatened ICE again, stating, “If I see armed ICE agents, I will treat them as domestic terrorists and active shooters.”
The Butler Township Police Department collaborated with the FBI in this investigation.
U.S. District Judge W. Scott Hardy scheduled Momper’s sentencing for August 12, 2026. He faces potentially up to ten years in prison and a fine of $250,000 for each count.
Notably, Trump had been injured by a gunshot in the ear on July 13, 2024, during a campaign rally in Butler, where the shooter was killed by the Secret Service.
Additionally, another individual, Ryan Routh, was arrested in September 2024 for a similar assassination attempt. He was found armed outside a golf course and was sentenced to life in prison plus seven years in February.
